Brother Ole was born in\u00a0May of 1877 in Minnesota. He died on December 10, 1877, less than\u00a0a year after\u00a0his birth in Adams, Minnesota. Sister\u00a0Susan &#8220;Susie&#8221; was born on June 26, 1876, in Adams, Minnesota. She married Stephan Smith Skinner in 1896. They had four children. She married Bottolf &#8220;Bennie&#8221; Olson Grinde on August 15, 1872, in her hometown. They had four children during their marriage. She died as a young mother on September 18, 1878, of Lung Fever in Adams, Minnesota, at the age of 26, and was buried there.<\/li>\n<li class=\"paragraph_style_15\"><strong>What happened to Anna&#8217;s father?<\/strong> \u00a0When Bottolf &#8220;Bennie&#8221; Olson Grinde was born on September 4, 1847, in Sogn og Fjordane, Norway, his father, Ole, was 22 and his mother, Anna, was 24. He married Kari Olsdatter Huke on August 15, 1872, in his hometown. Anna was living in Oregon at the time and moved back to be with her.\u00a0Susie died\u00a027 Apr 1904 in Watertown. I think the first article is taking about S.S. Skinner&#8217;s father, who had the same name. The last article details the death of Susie&#8217;s husband only 1 year later. He drowned on Pelican Lake while duck hunting with a group of friends. He went missing at dusk and when his capsized boat was found the next morning a search party went looking for him. He was found\u00a0only 30 feet from the shore in water only 3 feet deep.\u00a0His feet were firmly imbedded\u00a0in the oozy mud on the bottom and had fallen backward. They guessed he had struggled so hard to extricate himself that his muscles cramped up and he fell backward,\u00a0unable to stand up again.<\/p>\n<p>Who was\u00a0Herbert Skinner? Grinde?<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"paragraph_style_11\"><strong>He was Bottolf&#8217;s brother.<\/strong>\u00a0He lived in the township of Norden, just below ND Clark\u2019s home.<\/li>\n<li class=\"paragraph_style_11\"><strong>Why didn&#8217;t Susie and Anna live with him?<\/strong> \u00a0I think Susie probably did, but\u00a0Anna lived with A. B. Anderson.<\/li>\n<li class=\"paragraph_style_11\"><strong>Who was A. B. Anderson?<\/strong> \u00a0Ole Grinde was married to Amelia Anderson. She was A. B. Anderson&#8217;s sister. In a sense, Anna ends up living with family. She was at least with relatives.<\/li>\n<li class=\"paragraph_style_11\"><strong>Did any other relatives live in the area?<\/strong> \u00a0Yes. I&#8217;m not sure how many, but Anna&#8217;s grandmother was also in the area. I&#8217;m guessing she was probably living with Ole. Her name was Anna Grinde.<\/li>\n<li class=\"paragraph_style_11\"><strong>Where does Anna Grinde fit in the family tree?<\/strong> Herbert Langdon is my 2nd great grandfather. When we visited in 2014, we didn&#8217;t know that they were related.\u00a0We took photos because of the names. Glad we did!<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_7\"><strong>Anna Grinde died 25 Apr.\u00a01900.<\/strong> Her headstone is pictured above. I\u2019d love to see the rest, but this is all I have:<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_22\">Archie was born in Deuel County in the Clear Lake, South Dakota area.\u00a0 His parents were Anna and Herbert Langdon.\u00a0 When Archie was a baby, they moved to the Yoncalla, Oregon area and lived there until Archie was about 13 years of age.\u00a0 They then moved back to the Clear Lake area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_22\">Hattie Wohler was born in Brandt, South Dakota.\u00a0 Her parents were Carrie and Lars Wohler.\u00a0 They farmed in the Brandt South Dakota area for several years.\u00a0 When Hattie and her sisters and brothers were young, her parents were divorced.\u00a0 Her father moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where he operated a hotel.\u00a0 Her mother stayed on the farm with the children and continued to operate the farm with the help of her son Henry.\u00a0 In later years, after her father Lars became ill, he returned to the Brandt area where he died.\u00a0 Both Hattie\u2019s parents are buried at the cemetery at Brandt, South Dakota.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_22\">Hattie and Archie were married in Brandt, South Dakota at the Highland Lutheran Church.\u00a0 They farmed a few years in the Brandt and Clear Lake area.\u00a0 They then moved to Watertown, South Dakota where Archie worked for the Minneapolis &amp; St. Louis Railroad.\u00a0 He worked for the railroad until 1922 and lost his job because of the strike.\u00a0 He then worked at several other jobs until they moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1925 with their eight children and Archie started working at the John Morrell Packing Plant.\u00a0 He worked there until his retirement in 1926.\u00a0 Shortly after Hattie and Archie moved to Sioux Falls, their son Loren Herbert (Lorraine\u2019s twin) died from spinal meningitis when he was approximately 9 months old.\u00a0 Hattie and Archie lived to celebrate their 62nd wedding anniversary.\u00a0 They both died in Sioux Falls and are buried at the Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls.<\/p>\n<h2>From the 1979\u00a0Leikanger Bygdebok:<\/h2>\n<p><strong><em>Grinde farm, p. 35 shows Anna&#8217;s parents:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Botolv Olson Grinde born in 1847 married in 1872, Kari Olsdotter Huke who was born in 1852.<\/p>\n<p><em>Their children were:<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>a.<\/strong> Anna born 1872<br \/>\n<strong>b.<\/strong> Ola born 1874 &#8211; died 1874<br \/>\n<strong>The family emigrated to America 1875.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Grinde farm, p. 30 shows Botolv&#8217;s parents:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Ole Botolvson Henjum<\/strong> (628b) 1825-<br \/>\nmarried 1846 <strong>Anna Nilsdotter Njos<\/strong> (738c) 1823-<br \/>\nchildren:<br \/>\na. (The info below is from an email I received from Norway)<\/h4>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_15\"><strong>Email 1:<\/strong> \u00a0This entry with Synneva Endresdotter and her apparently unknown origin turned me on, and I have now found out that Ole Olson Huke and Synneva Eriksdotter Henjum were married in Leikanger June 27, 1833.\u00a0 She is called Eriksdotter in the 1865 census as well!\u00a0 However, there turns out to be two Synneva Eriksdotters in Leikanger born about the same time, and I need some time to figure out which is the right one!<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_15\"><strong>Email 2:<\/strong> <em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>In the meantime I have found Synneva Eriksdotter.\u00a0 She was from the Henjum farm and born in 1807, but for some reason she is recorded under Njos 678d with unknown destiny!<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"paragraph_style_15\">Assorted Info<\/h2>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_11\"><strong>Herbert and Anna\u2019s Marriage Certificate <\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>It lists her place of residence as Norden.\u00a0<a title=\"http:\/\/marksrelatives.com\/images_01\/Anna_Herbert_Marriage_Cert.jpg\" href=\"http:\/\/marksrelatives.com\/images_01\/Anna_Herbert_Marriage_Cert.jpg\" rel=\"wpdevart_lightbox\">LINK<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_11\"><strong>Ole\u2019s naturalization papers.<\/strong> He emmigrated to America via Quebec, Canada in May of 1885.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"paragraph_style_11\"><a title=\"http:\/\/marksrelatives.com\/images_01\/Ole_O_Grinde_Naturalization.jpg\" href=\"http:\/\/marksrelatives.com\/images_01\/Ole_O_Grinde_Naturalization.jpg\" rel=\"wpdevart_lightbox\">LINK<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_20\"><strong>Here\u2019s Bottlof Oleson\u2019s naturalization.<\/strong> A.B.
