On 13 December 1900 the name was changed from Skei to Ogndal.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"style_1\">Small territories of Ogndal were moved to Steinkjer in 1902, 1941 and 1948. On 1 January 1964 the rest of Ogndal, then with 2,678 inhabitants, was incorporated into Steinkjer.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"paragraph_style\">Jon Albert from Norway to Dakota<\/h2>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span class=\"style_1\">In the spring of 1892 Jon was living with his family on the farm \u201cKirkskei Vestre\u201d in Skei, Ogndal, Norway.\u00a0 To prepare for his emigration to America he labeled the two steamer trunks that would accompany him on his voyage and the \u201cErickson\u201d family name was born.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"paragraph Body\">\n<div class=\"tinyText style_SkipStroke inline-block\"><a title=\"http:\/\/marksrelatives.com\/images_02\/trunk_lettering.jpg\" href=\"http:\/\/marksrelatives.com\/images_02\/trunk_lettering.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/marksrelatives.com\/Erickson_Skei_files\/trunk_lettering.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p><span class=\"style_1\">The name painted on his trunks in Norway seems to have been Americanized. It was not \u201cJon Eriksen\u201d.\u00a0 The farm name \u201cSkei\u201d is not on the trunk, but when he arrived at Ellis Island, his name is \u201cSchei\u201d.\u00a0 Somewhere along the line a \u201cc\u201d was added to \u201cErikson\u201d and now we are Erickson.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph Body\"><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"paragraph_style\">Skei Church Baptism Records<\/h2>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span class=\"style_1\">Erik Petersen and Ingeborg are listed in these records for several Baptisms.
