The stone he\u2019s looking at would have been a good place to set your lantern when you went into the cellar. He came to Deuel County in September of 1881, filed a homestead claim and returned for his family in February of 1882.\u00a0 He made a house in Wisconsin and shipped it to his new farm in Dakota. In short time he put the home together, thus providing a home for his family while he began to build the barn and outbuildings. She arrived in Clear Lake in 1882 and two years later in 1884 they began building the Methodist Church.<\/div>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_8\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"style_8\"><strong>In addition to being a member, she was also:<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"style_8\"><strong>Trustee &#8211;<\/strong> Catharine Langdon.<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"style_8\"><strong>Steward &#8211;<\/strong> Catharine Langdon.<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"style_8\"><strong>Ladies Aid Society &#8211; President,<\/strong> Mrs. Catharine Langdon<br \/>\n<\/span><em><span class=\"style_8\">Here\u2019s Catherine in the Clear Lake, Deuel CO., SD &#8211; 1888 Methodist Church Records.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"http:\/\/files.usgwarchives.net\/sd\/deuel\/church\/clear.txt\" href=\"http:\/\/files.usgwarchives.net\/sd\/deuel\/church\/clear.txt\">LINK<\/a><\/em><span class=\"style_10\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"paragraph_style\"><span class=\"style_1\">Ed Stickle (Catherine&#8217;s Brother)\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"style_2\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h1>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_1\"><span class=\"style_2\">Catherine Langdon brother Edward Stickle died in Clear Lake at the age of 75 on 30 May 1898. Here\u2019s a few bits of assorted info that might help track her family down. She was born 10 Sep 1872 in Norway. 20 May 1889 she married Herbert Langdon. He passed away 3 May 1912. At age 45 in 1917 she married Peter J. Erickson. He passed away and she married Viron (Barnie) Marshall. He passed away 20 May 1958.\u00a0 Anna passed away 29 Nov 1964 and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery in Clear Lake. It looks like she is listed with both Herbert and Viron. They are living in Deuel County, Dakota Territory in the 1880 Census. Is this them? I\u2019d love to see the rest, but this is all I have:<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_17\">Archie was born in Deuel County in the Clear Lake, South Dakota area.\u00a0 His parents were Anna and Herbert Langdon.\u00a0 When Archie was a baby, they moved to the Yoncalla, Oregon area and lived there until Archie was about 13 years of age.\u00a0 They then moved back to the Clear Lake area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_17\">Hattie Wohler was born in Brandt, South Dakota.\u00a0 Her parents were Carrie and Lars Wohler.\u00a0 They farmed in the Brandt South Dakota area for several years.\u00a0 When Hattie and her sisters and brothers were young, her parents were divorced.\u00a0 Her father moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where he operated a hotel.\u00a0 Her mother stayed on the farm with the children and continued to operate the farm with the help of her son Henry.\u00a0 In later years, after her father Lars became ill, he returned to the Brandt area where he died.\u00a0 Both Hattie\u2019s parents are buried at the cemetery at Brandt, South Dakota.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_17\">Hattie and Archie were married in Brandt, South Dakota at the Highland Lutheran Church.\u00a0 They farmed a few years in the Brandt and Clear Lake area.\u00a0 They then moved to Watertown, South Dakota where Archie worked for the Minneapolis &amp; St. Louis Railroad.\u00a0 He worked for the railroad until 1922 and lost his job because of the strike.\u00a0 He then worked at several other jobs until they moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1925 with their eight children and Archie started working at the John Morrell Packing Plant.\u00a0 He worked there until his retirement in 1926.\u00a0 Shortly after Hattie and Archie moved to Sioux Falls, their son Loren Herbert (Lorraine\u2019s twin) died from spinal meningitis when he was approximately 9 months old.\u00a0 Hattie and Archie lived to celebrate their 62nd wedding anniversary.\u00a0 They both died in Sioux Falls and are buried at the Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls.<span class=\"style_13\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"paragraph_style_13\"><span class=\"style_13\">Belle Carrie (Langdon) Jaus\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_1\"><span class=\"style_8\">One of Herbert and Anna Langdon\u2019s children was Belle Carrie Langdon. She was born in April of 1893 in Oregon and passed away 18 May 1989 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"style_8\">On 18 March 1910 at the age of 16 she married 18 year old William Macklin Burbridge in Deuel County, South Dakota.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_1\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Source: South Dakota Department of Health. I remember seeing him when I was little. His 3rd wife was Jenny, she died, and then he married Belle, who I remember the most. I don&#8217;t think Rex is the biological son of Charles Jaus, but I&#8217;ll ask my sister, she remembers more of the history.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_1\"><span class=\"style_8\">He had two other children, Everett &amp; Marilyn who I think Belle is their mother.
